- Colorado-based company Boom Supersonic will use the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to accelerate the design and development of the Revolutionary Mach-2.2 aircraft,
- “Reinvent the Sky” industry solution experience can halve initial prototype development time,
- The 3DEXPERIENCE platform will enable smaller OEMs and start-ups to enter the market more comfortably, creating a new era of flight.
Dassault Systems; Boom Supersonic uses the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to accelerate the design and development of the Mach-2.2 commercial aircraft Overture, aiming to make supersonic travel mainstream and affordable.

Boom Supersonic & Dassault Systèmes Partnership
Based on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, Boom Supersonic uses Dassault Systèmes ‘ “Reinvent the Sky” industry solution experience to support product development from concept to manufacturing and certification. Using this industry-leading solution, the development time of the Boom Supersonic first prototype can reduce program complexity, inefficiencies, costs and resources. It increases product quality by reducing barriers to market entry by improving product quality by reducing
Boom Supersonic co-founder and VP of Technology Joshua Krall; “Overture is making new advances in aerodynamics, materials and propulsion and is using them to revolutionize long-haul commercial airline travel. We need powerful design tools to deliver our vision of a supersonic future, and Dassault Systèmes delivers exactly that.” He also said, “To start up, we don’t limit ourselves to legacy software systems to keep IT costs down. We have deployed Dassault Systèmes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform quickly and easily, and as our project matures, we aim to grow our team and work with hundreds of users.”
With passenger travel and increasing demand for new products and services, aviation startups, market entrants and OEMs are responding with new and emerging aircraft design concepts aimed at overcoming the technical challenges of the past, shaking up traditional aviation industry dynamics.

Reinvent the Sky Industry Solution Experience
Designed for product innovation by small OEMs and start-ups, “Reinvent the Sky” offers scalable access to digital design and simulation applications in a single, secure and standards-based environment. Boom Supersonic’s engineers, program managers and lead test pilot simultaneously; It can collaborate to define requirements, access and reuse common processes and parts with full traceability.
David Ziegler, Vice President Aerospace and Defense Industries, Dassault Systèmes; Aviation companies are working to deliver faster, lighter and more efficient aircraft without sacrificing passenger comfort.” He added, “Smaller Innovators need tools for their product development programs that provide them with the infrastructure of more established companies but allow them to stay agile at minimal expense.
Overture will be the fastest commercial airplane in history
Boom Supersonic is currently building the two-seat demonstrator aircraft XB-1 to prove key technologies for supersonic flight. Once completed, the company’s flagship aircraft, Overture, will fly Mach 2.2 from New York to London in 3.25 hours and from Tokyo to San Francisco in 5.5 hours, making it the fastest commercial aircraft in history.
